Well… everybody showed up. The procession lasted for over three and a half hours, and everybody who had anything to say (or to sell, more often that I would have liked to see) participated in this wonderful parade that mirrored the diversity of Seattle and the enlightenment and open mindedness of its people. From young children to old men and women, from churches to politicians to department stores to chain restaurants (yep, Chipotle had a float with a huge burritto-shaped balloon) the participating demographics is hard to describe by any single word other than “everybody”. Unlike the Solstice Parade last week, there were too many corporate sponsors for my taste, but this didn’t rob the parade from its authenticity and didn’t change its basic message which was, as expressed in so many ways by so many participants, that of peace, love and equality.

My favorite slogan of the entire parade was that of a little girl (unfortunately, couldn’t capture her in a picture) who had a sign that says:

Jesus had 2 Daddies

Other interesting slogans from the parade:

Sleep With The Right People

Do Ass Do Tell

I’m a Catholic Mom and My Gay Son is a Gift from God

(and the corresponding:)

Best Mom a Guy Can Ever Have

Anyway, enough chit-chat. I tried to document as much of the parade as possible, while at the same time trying to keep it interesting. Here’s the outcome, a jumbo album of more than 400 photos. Enjoy and let me know what you think!!
