Sarkozy and Hitler

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Not sure if it was intentional by the editors of this picture, but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this picture of Sarkozy was: Adolf Hitler. I think the shadow behind Sarkozy’s nose creates this resemblance.
It’s known that some magazines/photographers edit their photos to induce in the readers some particular effect… »

More on Longevity…

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Just fell upon this report in the Telegraph about how much time people spend waiting in queues over their lifetime: 6 months for the British. There’s no reason to believe that Americans, or for that matter, anyone living in a consumption-based society would do better than the Brits, so I think this also applies to… »

Defective Hollow-Point Bullets

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Friday vs. the Rest of the Weekend

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

A recent study published on a prestigious blog has shown that: “The more one does on Friday nights, the longer the overall weekend is perceived.” Furthermore, it has been proven, with only a tiny bit of doubt remaining (it’s being taken care of), that doing something on Fridays may improve your odds at reaching age… »

Shaving and Longevity

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

I found a very simple way to extend the life of any man by about 1 month. Here’s how…
I couldn’t find any statistics on the average age young men start shaving their facial hair, so I’ll have to venture with a guess: let’s say that on average, men start shaving on a daily basis at… »

Freakonomics Contest “Nod” for Moi

Friday, March 20th, 2009

As an answer to the question “What do economists have in common with garbage?” as part of a competition on the Freakonomics blog, my answer “They both appear in piles on TV when the garbage men are on strike” was picked among the top… »
